What Is Babylon Finance ?

Babylon Finance is a community-led asset management protocol that allows users to invest in DeFi together. It is built on the Ethereum network and is unattended, permissionless, and regulated by the community.

Babylon Finance Unique Features

• ERC-20 Compatibility – Participation in Gardens is done using the ERC-20 token standard. Garden tokens are not trusted and are re-issued/redeemed upon entering/exiting the Garden.
• Skin in the game – Participants suggest strategies and other members of the same garden can either support or oppose them. Users who have created a Strategy and managed it will receive a reward based on its performance. A member needs to contribute % of his/her participation in the Garden to be able to create a Strategy.
• Codeless Strategy Creation – A member can create a Strategy that combines different Defi protocols through Babylon’s user interface. No code needed
• Protocol Fees – To maintain protocol sustainability, the protocol may charge additional small fees based on performance and capital allocated to Strategies.
• BABL Governance Token – The protocol’s treasury, protocol fees, integrations, maximum performance fees, and reserve assets will be controlled by governance token holders.
• Participating Mining – Participants will receive governance tokens based on their contributions to the protocol.
• Asset Consolidation – Investors only need to deposit a single asset (called a reserve asset). When depositing and withdrawing, the protocol automatically consolidates assets to facilitate P&L and accounting for members.
• Innovation in wealth management – ​​Thinking from first principles. Now that Ethereum provides us with powerful orchestration tools, there’s no fundamental reason why teams need to rely on a single governing figure.
• Multi-Protocol – Babylon integrates with multiple DeFi protocols and exchanges.

• Non-custodial – Users retain ownership of their capital. The protocol and their non-withdrawal founding team aim for long-term investing rather than short-term.
• Decentralized Asset Management – ​​Everyone can create their own garden. Users can become members of Garden by depositing capital.
• Community-led Gardens – Gardens members form an investment thesis and collaborate to decide where to allocate the group’s capital for the common good.
• Democratizing access to investment – ​​Giving everyone the opportunity to start their own garden.
• All asset classes will be tokenized and available through public blockchains. Synthetix and tokens that track oil, gold, or the S&P are an early example of this.
• DeFi Gateway – Protocol details are hidden from the user, providing an easy to understand blockchain agnostic interface and messaging. Aggregation on frontend, protocol on backend.

Token Distribution

• 69% for Babylon community members. These tokens will be distributed to community creators, ideators, stewards, and passive members. More details on this will be released in the upcoming weeks.
• 19% Seed Investors, Advisors & Partners. These tokens will be vested linearly over a three-year period with a one-year lock period.
• 10% Team. Founding team members will have a linear four-year vesting period with a one-year lock period.
